The trio winner and quartet winner will perform a work of their choice no longer than 7 minutes in duration at the Closing Concert at 3pm on Monday 6 October.
For quartet repertoire, if no alto flute or bass flute is accessible to the group, transcriptions are allowed so that the parts can be played on concert flute.

Australian International Flute Competition Rules

The Australian International Flute Competition is open to all nationalities aged 32 years and under, as at Friday 3 October 2025.
Competitors must pay the registration fee for the competition (see Registration page).
Competitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
The competition registration fee is non-refundable.
Competitors do not have to register for the entire Festival. Competitors may register for the competition only.
Competitors entering the Competition and attending the Festival must register for the Competition and the Festival separately (see Registration page).
The adjudicating panel will consider both the semifinal and the final round performances when deciding the first and second place.
The jury may not hear the complete program in Round Two.
A competitor who fails to be on time may be disqualified.
A jury is appointed by the AFF Committee.
The decision of the jury is final.
Competitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
An accompanist will be provided for the semifinals and the finals of the competition. A timetable will be available for rehearsals.
A competitor may not use their own accompanist.
Proof of purchase of the repertoire must be sent to info@flutesandflutists.com by the registration closing date.
Public domain sheet music does not have to be purchased and can be downloaded from imslp.
The AFF Competition Committee reserves the right to make changes to the competition.
All rights for recording, broadcasting, sales of recordings, etc. of performances presented in and for this competition remain the property of the organiser.
Any matters arising over these rules are to be solved based on the English version of these rules and in conformity with the laws of Australia.

Young Artist Competition Rules

The Young Artist Competition is open to all nationalities aged 18 years and under, as at Friday 3 October 2025.
Competitors must pay the registration fee for the competition (see Registration page).
The competition registration fee is non-refundable.
Competitors do not have to register for the entire Festival. Competitors may register for the competition only.
Competitors entering the Competition and attending the Festival must register for the Competition and the Festival separately (see Registration page).
Parents not attending the festival, but accompanying competition entrants under the age of 16 may purchase the accompanying parent pass by calling the open academy. (See registration page)
A competitor who fails to be on time may be disqualified.
A jury is appointed by the AFF Committee.
The decision of the jury is final.
Competitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
An accompanist will be provided for the finals of the competition. A timetable will be available for rehearsals.
A competitor may not use their own accompanist.

The Flute Trio and Quartet Competition is open to all nationalities of all ages
Competitors must pay the registration fee for the competition only once per ensemble (see Registration page).
The competition registration fee is non-refundable.
Competitors do not have to register for the entire Festival. Competitors may register for the Competition only.
Competitors entering the Competition and attending the Festival need to register for the Competition and Festival separately (see Registration page).
The adjudicating panel will consider both the recorded and the final round performances when deciding the first, prizes.
The jury may not hear the complete program in the Final Round if they so choose.
Competitors who fail to arrive on time at the live round may be disqualified.
A jury is appointed by the AFF Committee.
The decision of the jury is final.
Competitors are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Flute trios and quartets who do not have access to low flutes, may transcribe the alto flute parts to be played on concert flute, and may play the bass part sounding an octave higher on concert flute.
Proof of purchase of the repertoire not available in the public domain will be required for each ensemble (email a receipt to info@flutesandflutists.com by the competition registration closing date.
Only one score and parts need to be purchased by the ensemble.
